Almost in sham, my OnOne Smoothie headset bottom cup snapped inside my frame. Yes i was planning to grease it up the day before.

Luckily i got Crown Cycles open and bought a Aest Headset till i can fork out enough for Chris King.

Thought for a moment i would ride gears tomorrow!

Enjoyed the ride this morning. Perfect conditions and the wait at some of the switchbacks was fine. Rode with my wife and savored the non-competitive pace.

Lots of TMB jerseys out there, very happy to see all of you.

Hope we stay dry tomorrow.

Meezo. How did it go for you? What ratio did you end up using?

Was great fun.Used the 32x18, absolutely enjoyed it. Rode with all my mates, we started and finished together, with the odd attacks on each other on ST's and climbs. Great FUN SOCIAL RIDE this, will be back for the fun again next year....

How was yours, you guys manage to get 2 laps?

Nah I didn't. Pushed way to hard on the first one. Was shot. Preferred today though. Did better today. Yes vibe and attitude of riders was excellent. Got lost s few times today but only made for more riding so absolutely excellent. Big kudos to all riders. My friends passed a chap a little way back who had a serious crash. I hope he is ok. The look of all the finishers today was second to none. Smiles all round. Just brilliant.

Yeh, chap is a mate of mine, he's going for CT scan. Came down hard, concussion so far from what i heard. Very very bad facial scars.... I'll try and get updates on he's progress.

Great fun. Good spirit all around. The bottlenecks were far less than previous years. The new single track at the end was fun. My 3rd one. Always nice to relax with friends.

Well that was an interesting two days! Well done to Milky who "won" today, beating Schalk home in a 2-man sprint. Today was much easier in my books, I definitely didnt get enough sleep on Friday night and the 4.30am wake up finished me. Massage and swim at Arabella yesterday arvie was a highlight :)

Passed the young guy who had the crash and he was sitting up with a space blanket on him. Hope he heals soon.

Copperhead - we went to Shunting Shed for pizza last night and were pissed off they charged us a "G.S Charge" which we guessed was R40 in lieu of corkage, but they dont have their own bloody licence anyway. Should have refused to pay.

It was more enjoyable than Arabella. Onwards to 65km Gravel Travel next weekend!

Sorry to hear about dinner. That is not on at all. There is another thread on it but a rider had a heart attack and passed on. Extremely sad news. Will see you at GT. Hopefully will meet you there :)

you had best find me before GT - I will be unable to walk/talk after 1500m and 65km - my longest MTB race yet.

Great riding and beaut trails on both days. Pity that, on day 2, we had 3 or 4 barb wire fences that we had to throw our bikes over and climb over. Hope they were taken down?

Brilliant fun this. Enjoyed both days. And perfect conditions. I probably won't do it again but it is super great. You could easily do both routes in one day and call it the Houw Hoek extreme. Loved it well done to all.

Why do you say you probably won't do it again?

Was also my 2nd HH & I raced it on both occasions, also had the privilege of doing w2w in 2013, so this 2014 HH I took as a dress rehearsal for the w2w later this year, I now feel more confident knowing the route & can aim for a top 50 this year.

ahh milky, i have photo evidence showing you were first man home on day 2, you lil racing snake you. Thanks for opening all the farm gates for us

Thats because the 2 guys who rode away from everyone in the 1st 350m from day 1 never rode day 2.
