Anyone know where one can get 700 20c road tyres (pref Conti's) in the Western Cape.

I used to purchase these from CWC in Bellville before they moved to their Willowbridge premises

after all the effort to get 29er accepted as quasi roadbikes at the Argus, you do this, look for a arcane tyre width that went out with the ark? Last time I even heard of this sourcery was when Queens cycles had to hand the last of their stock of 20c tyre out to the die hard cavemen roadies in 2005...........

23 is pretty much standard now, unless you like the added road buzz and less grip of a 20c.

Wider tyres aren't slower, they're just a bit more comfortable.

Why so narrow?

It has been proven that wider tyres dont really have more rolling resistance.

You also have more comfort and you will be able to run lower pressures compared to the more narrow ones.

23c gp4000's are probably your best bet all around...

Haha, perhaps I am one of those die-hard roadies :whistling:

Then again, my MTB of choice is still the 26'er

I still ride a 26er, but definitely 23c on the road bike. I remember the days of 18c Vittorias, but all they were was uncomfortable, slippery and would pinch flat on a speedbump.

I bought some Vittoria's for a retro bike from CRC. Looks kool but compared to the 25c ones on my other roadbikes, are horrible...
