I got the bike today and took it for a quick 20km trail ride - have to agree with Hairy "this bike is a wolf in sheep skin".

Great components and I only paid 23,500 which included new tubeless setup and tires - can highly recommend the Slider 1

Looks like it's the bike the Trance should have been when it stepped up a size. Impressed they shod it with Arch hoops.

Never really looked at SB as a brand but this bike might make me look very hard at it. Nice work H-man.

How did you find the demo bike?

I loved it! But I must confess, I'm new to MTB so this was first 650b I've ever ridden and also first proper ride on dual suspension.

So for someone that normally rides 29er HT I think I adapted to this ride quickly. The frame geometry put me in exactly the right spot for descending the trails and the smaller wheel size meant I could get through corners much quicker. I guess thats a general comparison between 29er and 650b anyway, but for me this bike suited my riding style perfectly and felt so comfortable and more in control, even though I was riding a whole lot faster!

I want to try a Giant Trance now to get more of a feel for 650b trail bikes, but this bike is pretty well spec'd for the price and it would be a perfect machine for just riding and having fun..

The only thing I hated were the grips, and wasn't too fond of the seat, but these things are easy to change/get used to.

I was recently looking at a frame, fork and wheels combo, but could just not scrape enough cash together for the package ..... still regret not being able to have taken advantage of this, great riding / handling bikes the Sliders!

Is it possible to just get the frame/fork/wheels generally, or was this a special deal?

You've ridden the Trance 27.5 2 right? Would you take slider over that bike? Cheers!

Neither yet, decided to save money and instead upgrade my current bike a bit and will look again later in the year.

Still would love to see a side by side review of these two!

I'm a year behind the time. Just started searching for new 2nd hand bike and saw a silverback slider 1 advertised - I did not know about this bike and looks like a super bike. I missed the opportunity to see or offer to buy the bike, it was already sold when I reacted. Do you know where I could find one to trial and/or where to find another 2nd hand one? It needs to be small, always more difficult to find.
