Hi Guys

Hoping you can assist.

I am building up a bike for my son, and have decided to attempt the build myself!

I am busy installing cables into the shifters.

They are Shimano 105's with the hidden cables.

I have one question - probably a stupid one - but this is all new to me...

Which "channel" is the brake and which is the gear cable?

I am working on the right shifter, so there is a channel on the inside... for which cable is it?

Based on this answer I would assume the same would apply to the other shifter as well.

I have attached a pic of my shifter indicating the two cables...

Couldn't find anything on the net...

Would assume the one on the "inside" of the shifter is for the brake as that would be the most direct path for the brake cable. Other one for the gear cable. Not sure so don't hold me accountable if its wrong. Just looks to be the obvious choice for me.

The end stops of the brake and gear cables differ. The brake cable has a bigger stop at the end. (brake/shifter side of the cable.)

my suggestion is to see if the shifter slots has different sizes and then thread the cables accordingly.

When all else fails search for a youtube vid.
