Giant Hybrid and Linden Cycles

I recently purchased a Giant Hybrid from Linden Cycles in JHB. I am so happy with the bike and the service received from Linden cycles. The bike is perfect for my requirements and it has enhanced my riding experience drastically. I am doing better times and longer distances. The guy at Linden (John Paul) was so helpful and professional. He didn't try to sell me something that I didn't need. He listened to my requirements and made appropriate recommendations. I also get two free services with my new bike. :)

yep. and then they did not have one my size :-(

hybrids are hard to find they seem a tad out of place. i eventually managed to get a giant hybrid my size prev model but what a battle. thing is heavyer than my 29er dual sus carbon. would have preferred the scott metrix though. as this will be 94.7 bike im gettin g ready for people to point and grin. i got the bike to be the horse on the iVortex trainer

Careful here, the two free services there come with strings attached. I bought a new bike from them and the broke my ankle shortly thereafter.

After six months off I took the bike to them for a service(they are quite far from me so it was going to be the only one I cashed in on) and was told that my service was outside the required time frame and I would have to pay full price. When I told them why I had not ridden or been able to come through it was a case of too bad really. So, I paid for my "service" and haven't been back!

99.9999999999999% of cycle shops will offer you a free service plan - 99.999999999999% of these plans have a set time limit/fine print.

No T&C's in writing on this one, I was told to come in for a bit of a "checkup" after around 2-4 weeks of riding. Did this myself as it's not something that I need a bike shop to do for me. The next set of "T&C's" was bring it in for a free service after 1000-1500km, no time limit was mentioned. I still have the receipt, hand written with no written T&C's on it. Just a stamp from the store.

I wasn't even looking for a full service, more just a lube and clean after 6 months off the trails.

No sourpuss here, just sharing an experience, that's what forums are for.

Being your usual douche bag self I see. Jigghead has a point, every rule has an exception and injury is a mitigating reason for missing an an arbitrary service timeframe. If you have nothing positive to add, stfu.

Don't feed the trolls Jiggs, it's a thankless task.
