I've seen a few of these polished cranks on the Hub and I must say they look pretty darn sweet!

I run a 1x10 with a black XT crank and thought my setup will look nice if I could polish this XT crank of mine

My questions:

1) Where can I get it done in Cape Town?

2) How much will it cost me?

3) How long does it take to do, (coz I can't go without my bike for longer than a day I'll go crazy)

If anyone can help I'd appreciate it much

cheers!

Easy enough to do yourself - strip off bike, sand, sand, sand some more, polish, refit. It's pretty dirty work but looks great when done.

Here's a pic of the XT crank I did for the SS build.

I'm going to do it myself this week. Taking the crank off, use some paint remover then I'm going to polish it and hoping ill get some bling. should take around a hour i hope.

Try Pretty Polishing (www.prettypolishing.co.za ) in Paarden Eiland

Thx! I am trying to avoid a DIY job on it, as I'm almost 100% convinced I'll stuff it up in some way or the other...modern man city slicker inabilities...

Its almost impossible to stuff it up.

Just start off with 800 waterpaper (And please dip it in water while using), sand until any "deep" marks have gone, then go onto the next grade and repeat the process. Takes time and patience, but you will be rewarded with a great looking crank.

Aluminium is probably the easiest material to polish.
