Interesting article!

I first thought it was going to say something about thieves knowing where u live and flowing your weekly riding trends and waiting for you and your bike.

Using strava you can find a whole host of important info: cycling routine, type of bike, how many people you cycle with.

We must be careful what we put on open forums

True. There is a privacy function which allows only you to see your workouts but then you cannot see how you are doing compared to others and cannot get KOM when its private, so I doubt anybody uses the privacy function.

Haven't read the article, but if you haven't realised that yet, I don't want to see your FB privacy settings!

In Strava at least you have a "privacy perimiter" (not sure of their exact term) that you can set. That way you can set rides as public, but they (public) can't see exactly where you stay and start.

way too much info out there for the affirmative bike shoppers for my liking.thats maybe why i do not use any of those apps alt its just because i suck at going fast on a bike.

Having your bike stolen is the least of your worries if you are not paranoid about your on-line privacy settings.

Talk to someone who had his identity stolen thtrough injudicious social media behaviour ............
