Flowta Posted May 28, 2014 Share I have a SLX 11-36 Cassette, this is only possible on the XT Cassette? EditAnd the Oneup components i have to order online? Nowhere available in SA? Don't see why you can't use an SLX or Deore for that matterI don't know about Oneup components but Evobikes had the Wolftooth version.
Bicycle Supply Chain Posted May 28, 2014 Share wooftooth, trex, one up all, the same, except one up you get a 16 tooth sprocket that replaces the 15/17 for a 3 - 3 tooth jump rather than a 4-2 tooth jump

Bicycle Supply Chain Posted May 28, 2014 Share you cant get a 39 in an tooth profile that goes NW.. not mathmatically possible Unless it's just a non nw sprocket. I run non me on my 1x10.

Bicycle Supply Chain Posted May 28, 2014 Share i have 11-38t at the rear with a XX1 39 upfront Where do you generally ride? Obviously not very hilly terrain or off-road. That's world champion busting gearing that. Julien absalon ran an 11-36 and 36 front at pmb xco WC. And at the last WC he ran 11-40 11 speed shimano with 38 up front. Shurter ran xx1. 10-42 and 36. SCD Posted August 22, 2014 Share If you go for a modded 11-42 cassette and use a XT medium cage derailleur you should really look at OneUps RAD cage. It makes shifting as smooth as you are used to from the normal setup. I ordered two and have one for sale (save the shipping cost) (https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/101832-oneup-rad-cage-for-xt-for-42t-conversion)I invite anybody interested to give it a go on my bike. Anyway, apart from that I am super happy with my 1x10 setup. I normally run 32t with a 11-42 cassette but also used a 36t in front for the 100miler. But this is really only needed if you don't want to be dropped on the flats. For Cape Town style single track or Table Mountain riding the 32t with the 11-42 cassette is a fit-and-forget setup. If you get your hand onto a 16t cog, use it. It makes sense but its also not a deal breaker without it.
Wedge Posted August 22, 2014 Share I really need to improve my setup Currently using a 36T up front with a 11-34 cassette So far its been fine, but the day will come when I wish I had two more teeth at the back
Dieter Nell Posted June 16, 2015 Share I'm running a 32 n/w chainring front and i removed my 15t and 17t on rear cassette. I installed a Shimano 16t and a 42t from rapidé. I'm using a original 11-36 cassette and x9 medium cage type 2.1 rear derailer. I am so happy with this convertion. I would recommend this to anyone.
