Learn to be TOLERANT you certainly were not practicing for the world champs, and secondly there is no rule that stipulates single track is for going downhill only.

problem is there are way too many arrogant roadies now using the mountain

I'm a bit confused by this comment, as you obviously have no idea of this situation, and probably didn't read the previous comments.

This particular stretch of trail has been the subject of another thread, and is a serious safety issue.

PS I haven't touched a road bike since I left primary school, which was many moons ago.

There are quite a few sections in Tokai that are downhill only, and it's also stated in the rules that descending riders have right of way.

Keep your eyes and ears open and ride in control.

Also, name calling doesn't help anyone. Just to put it out there. Neither is it part of the BEING TOLERANT you advocate at the start of your post.

problem is ....snip snip snip plak plak plak we're just riding too fast for the conditions

Yes you have a point but its not origin of the rider thats the problem but rather the interpretation of safe speed for the conditions.

Visibility is poor most of the way down now. This will not improive since we are not backfilling the trail when it wears, we're just clearing and smoothing. The trail gets deeper and the fynbos grows in the opposite direction.

The time has come for a unidirectional trail on grounds of safety

What a ridiculous comment. You must be one of those super friendly down to earth and humble mountain bikers? When last have you ridden this section in Tokai, I see you hail from Guateng. Keep your inflammatory comments to your self, clearly not adding any value.

Waaaahahahaha.

Ok so sorry for the hijack but here's a challenge. It is about Tokai so I don't feel too bad.

Know the table on my roots just as you enter about 50m from the road?

So. Start from the road. At a standstill. Roll in. No pedaling!!! Don't even preload your pedals. And clear the jump.

It's not as easy as it sounds. AAAAAND GO!

Cos It's fun. You'll do it easily. Well not easily. but you'll do it for sure. No cheating now!!

Karl did it on his M9. He reckons he had to pull so hard he re cracked his ribs.

I would be somewhat disappointed to see the ascent removed (especially during week days when it is largely deserted). Bluegums is not quite the same, at this time anyway. But I'm sure it would improve with more riders and some tender loving care.

Karl is soft!

If I don't make it you know I'm using the M9's weight as an excuse..

if Karl has his M9 chainstay in long configuration, then it's a sumbitch to get that bike to pop without some speed. Short length on the chainstay (steepens the HA and raises the BB though), and shock position to progressive position will firm it up nicely so the rear doesn't soak up the lip which it is very prone to do. what makes it great for smashing rock gardens makes it a hippo to pop with.
