Quick question on training.

I'm riding seven hours a week on a road bike (2 hard intervals sessions and one LSD), and am at a fitness level that'll get me a sub 3:30 Argus.

Putting aside technical skills - they're reasonable - how much of this fitness will help me in the J2C?

I've done W2W Ride at a lower fitness level and finished top of D group.

But am suddenly getting very nervous that I'm way behind for J2C training...

Remember that you going to do your current weekly ride budget in 1 day a few times. Day 3, 4 and 5 are serious days. And then do it again the next day and the next. It's a hard ride. Brilliant but hard. I would start doing consecutive long days in training to get more used to the type of demand. Can't do enough training.

Hi Hubbers

We will be assisting again this year with both the Sani2C and Joberg2C with regards to everything GPS related.

If you are looking for an entry level or a top end unit send us an email or checkout our website for further info and options.

Email: sales@easybike.co.za
Website: www.easybike.co.za

If you have any questions let us know and we will be more than happy to assist as best we can no matter if you are technically challenged or an IT Wizz.

GPS files and routes will only be available closer to the event as the routes have not been finalised yet. You will receive an email from Race Office as soon as these files are available and once we have tested them on all the GPS units and we are sure that they all work.

Regards

I see that Joberg2C is self navigated.

Will my Garmin 510 be sufficient?

(It's fairly new to me, so am still familiarizing myself with it)

Apologies if this has been asked before

guys having done a few stage races, surely its not that hard to even do it without a GPS unless you coming in 4 hours after everyone else, surely if you run in with the first 75% accross the finish line you wouldnt even need one, ive never done a stage race where you cant see the people in front of you and you left guessing where you go??

Have you pulled the trigger on that entry yet Dips?

The problem is what if everyone takes this approach, and there is no one with a GPS?

I'm also doing it Solo. Hopefully I get to meet you guys early on in the event

you will have a blast you "hook up" with riders quickly you sort yourselfs out as far as riding strenghs and normally by day2/3 you will know most guys around you as you should ride to the end with them its funny like that at the end we knew most guys in our groups, then again we were at the back talking *** a lot, not racing up front

I see it as a journey and not a race to the beach. Thats what Sani is for...

That is the way forward...If you so focused on praaaaaping all 9 days, you dont take it in....you might as well go and do breedts for 9 days in a row....stop at the waterpoints(more like buffets), chat to the farmers...take some photos....chat to people, check out interesting spots(wolf sanctuary, lion camp, kerk en berg etc etc...)

This stage "race" allows and promotes this type riding...let the pro's do their things upfront...if money wasnt at stake, I bet they would have done the same
