Here's an Andrew Coggan Training Peaks power reference chart give some kind of perspective where we lie in the big picture.... obvisouly its not an exact reference as true performance relies on other factors beside power output

What happened to taking it slow? :w00t:

Was a good race for me last night...Sure most of the usual front runners were taking it easy last night!

Perhaps the visit to the "Doctor" has helped....not what you thinking   Suikerbosrand is the Doctor apparently. Cures the hill climbing blues...

Power detail from the race last night

I would need to have a major pooh before starting and follow a serious diet to try and catch BS and Jorrie

As a matter of interest I'd like to know a bit more about the chaps who race to get some kind of picture on their training experience, stuff like:

My stuff...

Avg Cycling Training hrs per week (for 2015): 4 hrs

Other sports training (eg running): Running (all year), Triathlon

Current Age: 51

Endurance sports training experience (how many years): +/- 25 yrs

Thanks

This should be interesting to see what the fast boys train like....

For me, I'm new at the cycling game (2.5 years) after a knee op 3 years ago. Mostly MTB weekend warrior, only starting to do a bit of road.

Cycle around 6-7hrs / week and try do around 150km/week.

Age:47

ZERO endurance experience!

I try to get at least 6h training a week.

Currently adding 2 or 3 heavy lifting sessions per week.

48y old.

Cycling 5years now after retiring from rugby and running Marathons and Ultras. 8years of *** sleg and gained 28kg.

Lost 20kg in 5years.

Max heart was 174 for 5years but hit 178 last night on 2 separate devices.

Currently I try to hit my highest numbers after 20min and then hang in there for as long as possible.

aim for 8hrs per week but mostly get 4 to 6

Gym 3 x per week

Would be interesting if we compare race times like the 1 tonner coming up to see how the results here correlate to race results

Hoping to do my 2nd Road race on Sunday - Rand water Victory Race...

Only comparison I have is Emperors Palace race. I did a 2:50 but didn't have chip on the bike... MTB a lot simpler...

Otherwise SBR times are my only other gauge...my best is 2:16 for the 57km loop. I think thats OK.
