I use and have used both Stans and Batseal, both work.

Two Three Four rules of sealant:

1. Avoid using bombs unless absolutely necessary

2. Sealant works best when it's inside a tyre. On the shelf it's less useful ;)

3. Don't be shy, use lots

4. Top up through the valve folks, you don't want to upset the delicate ecosystem that has evolved inside that tyre.

Turn the tyre inside out and peel the old latex off.

Wipe with a dry rag and repeat the cycle

You make it sound so easy, yet

people are having to resort to paint scrapers.!?

I use a rough cloth on a dry tyre. Good elbowgrease to get the most off. You want to debulk as much as you can and especially focus on the bead. If not you may end with a wobbly seated tyre. The batseal stuff works well. Bought a big can of it and what I like most us the nonparticulate nature of it. Stans works OK but once you had to use CO2 (which sometimes is the only way to seat a burped tyre) you can't really count on it to work properly. Batseal hasn't let me down yet. Only the ammonia smell that is rather pungent.

best way to clean stans off is Soapy warm water and scrubber sponge.

I cleaned my front wheel not so long ago when I trashed tire and was going to try a repair.

It is so easy. When the tyre is turned inside out most of the latex has already loosened. Leave the really stubborn stuff as it's probably sealed a nick in the tyre

Can I bring my tyres to you.? ;)

Precisely the reason he didn't select his province. LOL

Only time I take off a tyre is when I have to replace it. I just add stans throught the valves about every 8 weeks. Should I be checking and removing dry latex?

No, you shouldn't. You get your wife to do it (like the guy in picture did)     ......  ;)
