CycleOps South Africa, proudly distributed by Bicycle Power Trading cc, one of SA’s leading importers of cycle-based performance measurement and training systems, today announced that they will be sponsoring a World first, an online racing cup, which will make use of the CycleOps Virtual Training Application and see participants do battle on virtual courses ranging from the famous European slopes to the flat lands of the Netherlands and everything in-between.

The CycleOps Online Racing Cup will consist of 5 one day classic styled ‘virtual races’ all around the world, starting off in South Africa where riders will tackle the Gordon’s Bay route, starting from the edge of Gordon’s Bay and heading out to the finish at Pringle Bay. Thereafter, rides will move to Europe and North America before heading back to South Africa’s Western Cape on a route that will see participants finish atop the world-famous Table Mountain.

These FREE online races (5 in total) will take place on every Wednesday in July at 19:00, with each route designed to take approximately 1hour. In the comfort of your own home we will truly bring the famous outdoor cycling routes inside!

For an initial period entries to each race are limited to 20 on a first-come, first served basis, so if you’re keen on having a chance at the prizes on offer, enter early. Entries open at 08:00 every Thursday of the month and close 1h before the race.

Participants will need an active subscription to the CycleOps Virtual Training application. More information on costs can be found HERE.

Each online race will see the lucky entrants pitted against some of South Africa’s very best road and MTB athletes sponsored by BPT, including the likes of Ben Melt Swanepoel, Darren Lill, tri-athlete Robyn Williams and others. Each race will include at least of one these famous athletes.

To make the cup even more interesting, a point scoring system will be implemented, with 20 points for the win, working down to 1 point for 20th place. At the end of each race the scores for each rider will be loaded onto the Bicycle Power Trading web page and at the end of the series the rider with the highest points will receive a PowerTap PowerCal. Winners of each online race will also win a PowerTap SWAG hamper that includes PowerTap branded tops, socks and water bottle.

Here is what I did last night....should work jaco....go to your trainer 20 minutes before the race starts...go to online racing...if the little loading wheel sits there spinning...just leave it, dont close the app or go back. Wait for race to come up and click start race to go in countdown mode....warmup for 10minutes....gotillyoublow

Done that Rouxtjie. The setup is slightly different in the desktop version. In last step you have to click on connect to race and that is where issue lies. Posted numerous races yesterday to try do it from all angles but it all ends up the same

Hopefully Dave gets it sorted with the cycleops guys soon
