So not a bad value proposition if you ask me...

I agree, and I think they have earned the right to ask a bit of a premium given how successful they are.

Unlike certain other extremely expensive new events discussed here on thehub.

They did do some fine tuning. In the past there were some uncomfortable surprises if one was riding at full tilt. Last year I came off twice a day. This year one minor step off. I want to believe I am better but the truth is it was easier.

There is this one overhanging tree in the Paul Cluver bike park when going down these switchback combinations...

It gets me every time - a slight knock on the helmet :-)

I think I know which one, Dunk! on the helmet every time

:-)

I love this race and it is a real gem to have on our doorstep.

Well, the event is, not the photos so much at R69-00 a download.

Extortion comes to mind...

A nice picture of you in full cry on a race like this, blown up and on a canvas or frame on the wall, that you see and appreciate and remember every time you walk past it, or in a simple frame on your desk, certainly worth 69 bucks in my opinion.

I did exactly that and the pic is hanging in my office. Reminds me of one of the best weeks in my life when things are tough at work.

Cracker. When we got over the top of Hamilton Russell yesterday, the view from the top was something special . Clear sky, with piles of para gliders hanging in the air, sea perfect blue and calm. A photo from there something like that , that you can remember forever. Hope the cellphone photos work out.

:-) I got hit, but managed to stay on the bike. Ears rang. My friend behind me landed on his back...

Backmarkers need proof that they finished ! Flying tomorrow morning and staying between 4 walls this time !

Actually, if I do have one (small) gripe about W2W, it's that they allow us backmarkers to choose to take the tar road down to Hermanus where one crosses to do the last bit to Hamilton Russel and the last little bugger of a climb and "mine shaft". Takes about 45 minutes off the ride. Re-join where the last single track starts from the tar road after "mine shaft". So now I came 10th last instead of 50th last. At least I sleep well with my medal at night.

I hope I get some sleep tonight. I am just too excited. First stage race on ss. Peace out chaps. Good luck to everyone for tomorrow. Ride safe... And just a little slower than me. Mucho gracias.

Respect to you for even attempting it on a SS. Give it horns!!
