I'm not the most sociable of people. I ride my bike alone, although I nod to those passing me in either direction and greet those I pass.

But often, at the end of a climb or a lovely ride, when the endorphins are sloshing around my brain and I can hear the blood coursing through my body I am filled with a magnificent sense of well-being.

Sometimes in those moments, I think of all of you. Every one of you, who has ever ridden a bike and felt THAT feeling.

That alchemical, magical, transformative feeling. I'm not a religious man, but my bicycle is my church. The pain of effort my religious sacrament.

So this simple missive is a salute to all of you, brothers and sisters, all of you who understand.

I may never meet the vast majority of you. I don't need to. Because we share this experience.

I doubt I'll ever truly convey precisely what I'm trying to here, words feel somewhat insufficient.

But here it is anyway.

I salute all of you, all of us, united in our wondrous pursuit.

Peace.
