ewep Posted March 9, 2008 Share Looking at buying a secondhand set of wheels or 2. The wheels are Shimano, but I ride Campy. Can the free hubs on Mavics and on Zipps be changed and what is the costs involved?
javadude Posted March 9, 2008 Share Apparently the Liqui Molly team are riding Record group with Shimano wheels and clusters without any problem, maybe you should ask Gary Rabie just to make sure.
Johan Bornman Posted March 10, 2008 Share On the Zipp wheels the freehubs can be changed. However, it requires a slight re-dishing of the wheel due to Campag being more dished than Shimano. A wheelbuilder can do that for you chop-chop. On Mavic it depends on the wheel. I suggest you check on the specific hub type you have. The website will be more useful than me, I've only changed a Helium and something else I now can't remember.
ewep Posted March 10, 2008 Share Dankie Johan. Will follow up on that. I might just end up selling the wheels and the groupset.
Ox_Wagon Posted March 10, 2008 Share American Classic also recomend a re-dishing after changing to Campy. Also check the following thread. https://www.bikehub.co.za/forum_posts.asp?TID=22395
