2015 S Works Epic

I fell myself straight into Durbanville Hospital at a rockgarden on a singletrack in Jonkershoek, from forgetting to unluck the shock on my hardtail. A specialist , Dr Frikkie Rademan, (who happens to be a MBTer) attended to me and has a Epic Marathon. He convinced me to buy one. Due to the Brain in the front shock, no more forgetting and un/locking shocks. I went and bought one as well. (I suppose to make up for the lack of talent) Its a lot of moola, but I agree with Johny B. Its a great bike and my case, its cheaper on the medical bills.

Hahaha, I have the exact same bike. 2014 Epic Marathon carbon. I love it soooo much.

See the back brain is at least still there. As for the new fork, surely the maintenance on that is going to be a nightmare. Aside from being closer to contact with rocks etc, can you imagine the amount of dirt that will be exposed to.

Happy with my 2014 Epic thanks.

Have to say I'm confused why they went for the inverted fork just as the normal one was perfect. Especially as its actually heavier. It has no appeal to me it just looks like there will be hassle. What are the service intervals on it?

Very happy I bought my 2014 Epic. If i was a buyer of an s-works now I would hunt for old stock 2014(if available) or try get a second hand one.

Gonna cost you a arm and a leg to service and repair that fork.

They are still available with the normal SID with brain, even in S works trim.

Can't see why a normal service should cost more. Would it not be more or less the same spares and labor? But yes Brain service not cheap

R20 k for the shock and hub they can keep it,and the technology is new so the parts are gonna be expensive in the beginning until they become more main stream.

The whole debate about the front fork needing more maintenance and it is more difficult to service, clean etc. Is all BS, my Dirt bike fork is easier to service, takes more punishment than a bike fork ever will, has just as much if not more tech involved. I am sure someone will come out with some aftermarket stanchion guards for it at some point, to be honest, I don't see many scratches and/or damage to my dirt bikes' stanchion guards, so I am not convinced that it will be that prone to damage, the fork seals may need more attention than usual methinks. As far as the cost, it is absolutely insane, but, if you can afford it, then flaunt it! Who cares if some oke on a makro special rides the crap into you, my motto is, at some point in your life, abandon all common sense and go on pure emotion. If you earned the cash, you earned the right to blow R130k on a bicycle, talent or none. Period.

Why do that??? I'm trying to convince myself that my 2014 epic is just great and I'm not missing anything with the 2015 epic (which apparently doesn't have great colour combos by the way)!!

inverted shocks style

like the old Votech style ones Porche used in '98?

What was the reason it never took on then?
