Avid XX World Cup series brake problem

Hi,

I have lost all stopping power in my front brakes. There is fluid leaking from the piston/lever pivot area from what I can tell. Looks like you need a special press to remove lever. Anyone know what the issue may be and if there is someone in the Port Elizabeth region who can service them?

Thanks!

Leaking reservoir or something like that. Your LBS can order a service kit and fix it.

No special press needed, just use a socket spanner to press it out.....many videos on Youtube on how to do it and what parts you need to order.

Avids saving grace is they can be serviced, if that was an Xtr lever leaking you'd be throwing that lever in the bin and coughing up around R1800 from an lbs for another complete lever.

Have literally thrown my avids, both xx, xo's away, so tired of having to service, bleed etc............stick to shimano

Thanks for the advice, think I'll look into getting the problem fixed. Spent too much coin on these to throw them away!

Servicing or repairing one's bike/parts is not that difficult.

Google Avid XX brakes service - you will find plenty of info - also on sram website.

New lever bladder and you're good to go. About 300 bucks per lever for parts, and then whatever your local mechanic charges you to fit unless you feel like doing it yourself.

Elixirs are notorious for this, but the fix is pretty simple.

My avid xx wc lever body broke where it connects to the bracket. Where can I get a replacement?

Order from your LBS. Cape Cycles have spares. Not cheap though...
