I see a new course is on the cards for 2014

The Red Bull Rampage has become a somewhat iconic event in the world of mountain biking thanks to boundaries continually being pushed at the event. Over the years the Rampage course has changed from time to time in order to keep help pushing things forward, and this year Red Bull obviously felt it was once again time for change. Part of the whole idea of Rampage is to create a new line down a mountain that on first appearance seems almost unrideable, but with so many lines having been built over the years that was no longer the case on the old course. For 2014 though it will be all be as fresh as a daisy, an entirely new test.

Amped for the new course! I was hoping to see Danny Hart on the invite list though... Dude's got style.

I'm more surprised to see Mick Hannah's name there. I can't see why a top 10 WC contender would risk a season or even worse, a career on a freeride event.

Other downhillers like Gee have been regulars at Rampage, I think Gee even podiumed once, they don't trick that much, if at all. Also Sick Mick and his lovely sis do/did Whistler dh, must be infectious.

Can't wait!!! Gets gnarlier every year. Gonna be good to see a new course.

It blows my mind watching these guys on a screen - Would love to see it up close. Even though I can see how quick and far they're dropping by the second, I think my brain would explode seeing the scale and madness of it up close in real life. Immense!!!!

Looking back at the podium sitters from every year gives us some perspective on how difficult it is to place well at Rampage. Until 2013, when the event was cut short because of wind and only one finals run was completed, there were seven different winners. Even more striking is the fact that there isn’t a single rider who has been on the podium more than twice. Kyle Strait has won twice but he’s never managed another podium finish. Berrecloth, Cédric Gracia, Kurt Sorge, Cameron Zink and Gee Atherton are the only other double podium sitters.
