Lefty V Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 Wondering if anyone else experienced a similar problem - The padding in my Tundra 2 "collapsed" (after about 4000km) With collapse I mean it compresses and stays compressed after I lift my bum. Not terribly uncomfortable, but it is not the way it used to be. I only weigh 64kg and had 2 Gobis on previous bikes which lasted very well, so this was a bit of a surprise.
Eugene Oppelt Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 (edited) That's weirdSend it back to Italia (I've had numerous Fizik saddles over many seasons, including a Tundra - no issues like this) Edited August 23, 2014 by ' Dale

I'm on my second one now.
Lefty V Posted August 23, 2014 Author Posted August 23, 2014 I plan on taking it up with LBS when I am back in town. Tried taking a photo - not easy to get the dents to show up , but here it is. You can also see creases in the cover on the side (that I never had with my Gobis) it might or might not be related to the padding issue since it formed fairly early on long before I noticed the padding problem.
Maximis Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 I have small creases near the tundra logo on my saddle, but no compression issues. The gobi is a completely different saddle, so although the brand is the same, they will wear differently. 4000kms is a decent innings for a tundra in my opinion. But ya gobis are bomb proof
Eugene Oppelt Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 (edited) YeahCreases are pretty normal Edited August 23, 2014 by ' Dale
Sepia Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 Ask Frail. It happened to him on the way to Durban.
Lefty V Posted August 23, 2014 Author Posted August 23, 2014 Thanks for all the feedback - good to know about the creases being normal. If 4000km is a "decent innings" for a Tundra I am a bit shocked. Can't see it being normal to buy a new saddle every couple of months. Will see what the LBS says, but looks like I will be buying another Gobi.
JohanC Posted August 23, 2014 Posted August 23, 2014 Creases are normal yes. Mine is exactly the same on both. Though no issues on the "top" foam.
Eugene Oppelt Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 Not even 4000 miles would be good durabilitySaddles should last years Lefty V 1
Donovan Le Cok Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 Mine looks just like that. I have 6000km on it. Still very comfortable.
Furbz Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 i had one where the left rail pushed through the stopper leaving me with a lopsided saddle.much fighting later it was replaced as a manufacturers defect

Took it off my Giant Anthem the day I bought it and stuck it on shelf. Sat there ever since - no signs of wear and tear yet, still looks almost new
Jigghead Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 I use a Tundra 2 and to be honest, they're hard as nails. I wasn't even aware that they had padding to collapse in the first place. Still, after my ~ss was worn in properly, it's the best saddle I've had.
Guest Smimby Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 Why is the seatpost "dented" in like that? design?
