Event Name: Afrimat Tour De Worcester 2014
When: 7 September 2014
Where: Kleinplasie show grounds, R60, Worcester, Western Cape
Category: Road

The event will start at the Kleinplasie show grounds (Kleinplasie Plaasmuseum) in Worcester, which means both routes will hit the few small climbs through Brandwacht (including “Leeu se Nek”) now shortly after the start. Enjoy the breather on the flat section before turning right towards the R101 and left onto the R101 towards Rawsonville. The R101 is a narrow road; keep well left of the centre line at all times. Both routes then turn left before participants pedal through Rawsonville (caution: potholes in the main road).

Once through Rawsonville, cyclists will pedal past the turn-off to Louwshoek, and continue towards Worcester past the Nekkies Resort. Turn right onto the R43 towards Villiersdorp and left towards Nuy/Robertson. The two routes split at the R60 Robertson Road T-junction.

The 94 km riders will turn right onto the R60 towards Robertson before turning left towards Nuy. This loop includes 1,8 km of well-prepared gravel road before returning to the R60 and Worcester. The finish is in a side road on the Robertson side of Kleinplasie – watch out for the marshals signalling a right turn into Perkins St about 600m before the finish.

The 65 km riders will turn left towards Worcester when they reach the R60. The finish is as above.

No flooding problems that we know of or expect.

Cool!

After a tough winter, how rough and potholed is the gravel section?

Can I pack them carbon hoops?

How challenging is the gravel section? Im heading through for my first time

Similar to the 99er segment if you've seen it, similar length and similar surface type, but on a slight gradient

That was last year

Dunno what this year might be like in terms of surfacing as there's been lots of rain.

I have posted pictures of the bridge in Nuy and the gravel section.in the photos section.I talked to local cyclists who tested the gravel section over the weekend. The gravel section is in a good condition similar or better than previous years, according to them.RegardsHanno Conradie
