Hi Guys, So after years off of the bike I'm itching to get back on the saddle so too speak. And I would appreciate your thoughts on the following. I want to try stage/marathon racing and realised im not 20 anymore, so im in the market for a FS. Now comes the confusing part, with all the latest advances ect ect and all the jargon, im clueless to what I want/need. And everybody keeps asking me whats my budget. But I do not know what I must budget for. Hence I decided to buy a cheapish learning bike and next year upgrade to a better suited bike. And in my net searches I came across solomans cycles running a special on 2013 models. The Axis A30 FS caught my eye. @R8999.99 ......................................what do you guys think?? All advice would be appreciated!

Was on the Axis site earlier and had a look at this bike.It really is good value for money,if you look at components vs pricing you'll struggle to find a better deal. Also they are imported by Scott as a cheaper alternative,so they should be okay quality. You might not get much street cred on this bike, but you"ll have a nice ride on a decently specced bike.Just my 2c

I was looking for a MTB recently, my LBS gave me some fairly solid advice.

R15k will buy you a pretty decent hardtail, it will buy you a pretty terrible FS.

I bought a 2nd hand anthem last week and while it was a few thousand more than that axis its a much better bike.

My mate has a A10 FS and it is a solid bike decent components for the price, except for the Kore hubs which are not the greatest. The design is similar to the Scott, pity that Axis don't make this bike anymore.
