dings in mtb rim

Hi everyone

I purchased a set of american classic mtb 26 tubeless last week after reading up on them.

reviews about using them on light xc/trail bikes with suspension travel ranging from 120mm-150mm the inner diameter and weight made me decide to go for them...

So today my first proper ride on the red route harkerville and when i got home, voila a ding in the rear rim(ironicaly while riding thinking to myself the old saying of Thom Ritchey or whom ever it was about weight...) i am by no means heavy(64kg) but i do ride fast. the bike i'm riding is a giant trance x

so to anyone looking to fix a dented rim the best advise i could find was this...http://www.pinkbike.com/news/Tech-Tuesday-Fixing-Rim-Dents-2012.html

so it seems i just bought a nice pair of hubs to build a new stronger rim onto.

hope this helps

Theres a nice thread about how to knock out a ding on thehub by Johan Borman, it's not to hard and the rim normally comes out pretty good. Just don't use metal to knock out the rim, it marks/squashes the aluminum, use a 25mm nylon rod from Maizey plastics for R50. Did you notice any solid impact to the rim on a rock or root? Granted I never noticed the incidents when I dinged my rather tough Stan's Flows twice, just noticed the dinges in the rim one day while cleaning the bike. Most dinges appear to be from running tyre pressure a bit on the low side, fine line on comfort vs rim safety.

am running those exact rims. I weigh about 15kgs more than you and do adventure racing so the bikes gets abused with bundu bashing, cliff diving and insomnia induced lie downs..

no problems with them so far(although i will look a bit closer tonight just incase)...straighten em out and enjoy.

i was away for a few days...

now running a higher pressure in both front and rear 2.4" tyres.did a super hard ride this morning(drops jumps rocks) and rims are fine.

they do seem to be more comfortable than other thinner(inner dia) rims at higher pressure.

but sorted the problem  with a shimano spoke wrench-worked as if it was made for it.

ill just keep running and fixing the wheels until i buy my next bike...
