HI people

if this has been asked before, i could not find it using the search engine. soooooooooo

I serviced my rear hub in the week and found that it was really a breeze to do.

the bug has bitten and i am now wondering how hard it could be to service a fork as i would really like to aquire this skill.

Seals,oil change, lowers etc.(full service)

there are many videos on-line explaining in great detail, but i would like to ask you guys or girls for personal experiences and tips...what i should be mindful of like crushing washers/stripping bolts and tools required before i start this myself...

THe fork in question is a fox 32, open bath.

Thanks

Not difficult, just takes some concentration the first time. For the Fox you basically just need the seal kit (wiper/oil seal, crush washers and foam rings - cost about R400) and 10 wt oil.  Use your cellphone to photograph the parts as you dissassemble to give you confidence to get them back together in the right order. What guys mostly neglect is draining the residual oil out of the damper cartridge.  To do this use a seal pic or small screwdriver to gently lift the shim that closes the bottom holes in the damper cartridge to allow any remaining oil to drain.
