Unfortunately second hand bikes do not have much value. You'll have to check what the bikes of same quality/age/components go for. Keep in mind it would sell as a 2012 bikes due to the frame being 2012, so you have a 2 year old bike there. But with the amount of "New" parts I would personally sell them as parts and not a complete bike. But that does leave you with the risk of not selling all the parts.

It's worth what someone is willing to pay you for it.

Put it in the classifieds and if it doesn't sell in a week your price is to high

I don't know, I don't think that whole thing about second hand bikes going for 40-50% of the original price is quite true, yes you as individual might have this idea and or execute this. But just quickly going through some of the ads, most of the ads for what it is worth you find that people sell it for maybe 60-80% of value, I mean there are bikes that are 2+ years old, people still don't sell it for that low. But of course this is loophole discussion, but didn't type all of this for no reason.

I think you go and check what your bike is selling for new and used on thehub or wherever you like, take into consideration what your components and everything else looks like, what is the amount of use on those parts, how many scratches, on what and where? You know that whole business.

I have sold a few things here myself and what I do is, I think what would I pay for this, and then I just make the price a little lower after that, then you have a reasonable price or a price people would pay or a price that would make you feel like, yeah I just helped out that guy, totally worth it, because if people buy something for a good price, most of times I think they notice this and would be grateful.

I sold a not even a year old Silverback 29er frame, fork, brakes, 2x handlebars, stem, headset, pedals, seatpost and packaged it up for smooth couriering baby, and I sold the load to a guy for R2000, which is a fair price, taking as most of the stuff was pretty new. The reason I did this, someone helped me out and I was like well I will then do the same, you know?

Just be reasonable, I guess that is what I am saying don't shoot yourself in the foot etc. and all of that jazz but be cool about it? And once you gain this awesomeness you find that coming up with prices, is really easy.

OH, and also... What people recommend is make your price a little higher than you would have wanted to make it, and make the price negotiable, people say this plays some serious games with people's minds.

A lot easier to use the Bikebay pricing guide......

Thanks for all the replies, guys! the reason I ask is I bought and built everything only to find it's a 17" medium which is too small for me, I used to ride a Momsen medium which was great. I must also have grown a bit in the time since I last rode mtb's properly and I'm now around 181cm.

Thanks again!
