You should`ve seen the XTTERA goodie bags, my mates were stoked. Cant remember when last I got a goodie bag, or even an Argus magazine in the post. Haven`t got one the last 3 years, my pals all received one and it comes to the same address. :whistling:  :whistling:

Xterra was amazing, full of stuff you could actually use, T shirt, cap, keyrings, and many many other nice things. We as cyclist as just satisfied with very little I suppose.

22KM Done and Dusty :)

lol, got to the R44 Turn off and realised I left my racetec chip at home.... so all the way back to Plumstead to go and collect. Ended up starting with group CC, so much for seeding in CA and getting to ride with the Vinnege Laatjies.

Great little route though, over all fun ride, managed to weave my way through the pack and got 1:07.33. Had to get off a couple times either due to people getting stuck on hills and to assist a gentleman of had a tumble.

Little Video of a section of Single Track, only 360p, internet too slow to upload larger format.

Yes, very dusty.  My son did 1:01:51 in the 22km from the C batch, I did around 1:25.  Was my first CTCT MTB race, and the hills, although not steep and very long, were uncomfortable with the sand and the weaving through very slow riders.  Like seriously, how do they get seeded so high if they are so slow?

Ha ha wouldn't know hey, maybe they jumped up some groups. also today's ride is more of a fun ride for families.

Best is people get stuck on Single track, no way around but to wait.

Excellent time your son got, what's his age?

He will be 15 in 3 weeks.  He could have done better was it not for one bloke that fell on the single track and flatly refused to get off the ST to recover and allow traffic to pass.

55km done & dusted no seriously it was dusty.

2:39'ish & I reckon 20th position. Only got caught up once in the ST behind one of the pro ladies but didn't mind as I was knackered.

38kms dusted and done - in that order!

Route was rather enjoyable (more so than the lack of info etc that preceded), just soooo dusty I could hardly see in some places!

Now to swap the tubeless tyres on the 29'er for some slicks... ;-)

That is quite unpleasant to do. Did mine 2 weeks ago.

Good fun. Didn't push too hard as it was so congested. ST was crawl pace. Impossible to see trail from dust in some places. But great day, lots of fun! Glad I chose 38 km though!

Is it just me or did they slightly change the 55km route from last year. Managed to stay om my bike this year. :w00t: . Took of 20 min from last years ride, did a 3:46. Started towards the back of D group. Now to train for a 3:30 for next year. Decided to push hard(my pace) on the HILLS/CLIMBS as I was expecting congestion on the single tracks. Wasnt wrong, however there were some nasty falls. Hope they recover before the road race on Sunday. Lots of dust, luckily I ride with a Buff. If I may, may I suggest that they have a Lube point halfway(as with the K2C). Watching the Video clip last night with my wife made me wonder how much damage my drive train took with all that Dry dust eating into it. Sounds lick a Coffee grinder. Please have more Beer tens with cold beer. Ques are far to long. Other wise the event was awesone and fellow cyclists walked on the left and gave track where possible.
