Heia Safari berms going off camber and throwing you into the bushes

Actually this wouldn't be a bad moment for some trail builder to provide some insider info into what makes a good berm. I too would be keen to know. Is there a science to it. Or is it just you get a feel for it.

Like a couple of guys have said already, glad its not just me or my lack of skills! I almost find some of berms "outside" of the right line. Don't know if that makes sense, but all I know is that they aren't right!

I'm sure the guys at Heia will have a look at this thread and do something to try and iron out the kinks.

I think it's still early days there and the guys really have put a huge amount of work into the trails.

Taking a dirt sample is never fun but it's all part of the sport:)

It's nice to see some constructive feedback, this can be very usefull to them.

Is there anybody here that knows them, and can send this onto them?

I am sure like any business decent client feedback will be assed and actioned as well as appreciated.

I have to agree that they aren't 100%, but it does add some excitement and you can never be complacent

Agreed . Otherwise ,it could just as well be like a " safe " roller-coaster ride.

This is true. I'm not at all for dumbing down trails. Infact I get rather upset when suddenly a rock or root is missing from some singletrack that I know well. This is really why I started the thread. I know that we all have differing opinions on what constitutes a good trail and thats what needs to be discussed for Heia to really do well. I'm blown away by all the work that has clearly been done. Clearly the trail builders are investing time in the trail I just hope it is always well considered.

Hello Guys, Thank you so much for the feedback on this topic. We will forward this thread to the good folk at Hero Adventure and Heia Safari and see what they say about some of your suggestions. Your opinions and ideas are greatly appreciated.

Don't forget to tell them they doing an awesome job!! Our comments by no means should be considered negative. Mountain biking is all about riding the terrain as it presents itself. This is not track cycling. :-)

Howzit Okes , and thanks for sending the info on , we have not had much time in last few weeks to keep up to date , apologies

1st off ,and I hope it comes across in what we do . WE NEVER TAKE ANY COMMENT BADLY , good or bad we make a point of looking at it and taking advice, then working from there

Re the Berms , Guys we are by no means experts and although we have built a numbers of berms in various venues ,I must agree with every comment , without making excuses we have just been crazy busy the last few weeks , we are currently trying to manage 3 other sites we are developing and this is all honestly has resulted in us having to delegate work to some of our team members who do not have enough experience in Berm Building .in the past we have made a point of riding the trails at least once a week but this has not been possible in the last 6 weeks .

We did take some time out this week after guys calling us about the Berms and rode the subject sections and yes I have a scratch or 2 to prove it :)

I think most of the berms are in the right places but allot of them need to be extended in places and moulded correctly to ensure they flow , we will make this a priority and sort it out as best we can

I don't believe any trail builder can profess to know everything and we love to listen and learn . We welcome the feedback and would love to meet and chat to guys who feel there advice and even taking the time out to show us what they feel will improve our trails will work .we are always keen to learn

SO BRING IT !!!

one thing you can always be sure of when you come visit us . BEER ALWAYS COLD and We Love to chat

inbox us on our Facebook page and we will gladly set up a time to meet

thanks again guys , and thank you for the support , its great to see the interest , it shows us that even though we are not perfect , you okes enjoy what we do and the brand enough to take the time to advise and help

Great stuff! Whats the progress on Kingskloof?

Kings Kloof – A No Go !!

After a couple of months of planning , work and great excitement it is very disappointing for us to announce that Hero Adventure will no longer be taking over the Kings Kloof trails

We have been working with some members of the trust for a couple of months after been asked to consider taking over the trails , Hero Adventure were informed that we could go ahead and get preparations for opening done .

Unfortunately in the last 3 weeks we were informed that some members of the trust were against the agreement and even after a number of attempts to convince them of the benefits and host of other positive impacts the park would have, we were informed this week that not all members approved the initial agreement and thus we could no longer continue.

It is very disappointing for us but unfortunately out of our hands

The team at Hero are busy with a number of other planned projects, and there are some exciting additions on the way. We look forward to providing many more great places to experience what Hero Adventure offer.
