Perhaps the other bike had lighter wheels. .

It's like F1 pit change. .

I don't think they will ever really tell anyone cause it's part of their tactics.

Could probably be a number of reasons.

Yes I know there could be a number of reasons, but what are/were they?

I question the lighter bike thing, aren't most of these bike carrying ballast to make them legal at the 6.8kg rule?

Im not questioning old AC, I'm interested in the reasons.

They won't have it under the limit. Maybe just different kind of wheels or tyre pressure..

Hey maybe we can see a shot of the bikes used and try find out what was different.

Hesjedal and Uran now truly out of contention, no matter how awesome their TT performance will be over 60 kms on stage 14.

I am hoping for a 'Berto top spot.

Besides it not being the prettiest colour combo I have seen, I can't really tell lol.. maybe the angle or the fork?

Looks like same frame (Tarmac) same wheels Roval. So it wasnt an Aero vs climby swop, and I also cant imagine them changing gearing for a lil'ol 7% bump ;)

Ja lol.. and his favourite weapon is always the Tarmac.

Probably something small bugging him so he decided let's make a change before something small is something big.

Only thing I can spot is different grip tape, if he is messing with us, he is doing a good job ;)

I think you might be on the money there. He looked fastest in first sprint, just went too early.

Perhaps he is a weight weenie and didn't want the 20g number board weighing him down?  :P

More likely however is that he asked his team for a Cannondale for the 'climb' but they couldn't get their hands on one...

That hombre is a weight weenie no doubt.

He chooses his equipment carefully.

That's the diligence of a multiple Grand Tour winner.

Could be the number board.

Wonder whether the replacement also did not have the extra weight of a power meter.

Think a scrap between Viviani and Greipel... both don't have solid lead outs for this tour though so maybe OGE can get their train working properly and set it up for Matthews.
