Cioni says

"This is always an interesting phase of the race. Broadly speaking there are two types of riders – those getting stronger and those getting weaker. Everyone is feeling it and basic physiology determines who’s in which camp.

So it’s becoming clear who can’t win the Giro, even if we don’t yet know who will win it. It looks fascinating and as a cycling fan it’s one I’d want to go to see because anything could happen. It’s long, it’s up and down all day, and it’s in the south. If it rains down there it can be tricky and most of the towns you go through have a cobbled section. Then the people tend to get very close to the racers, so it presents a unique set of problems..."

Another for Berto to sit in and have the others make the racing.

After this challenging stage, Beefie Bert can have a rest tomorrow.

Dale are you there, did you watch the TOC last night, Sagan was incredible, such a tough stage and he only list the GC by 2 sec and that in the queen stage.. and today there are time bonuses up for grabs. Hope he has something left in the legs. Etixx in a sticky situation, do they ride to give Cav the win or do they protect the youngsters GC.

Uran seems to have recovered from his cold now. Good on him for sticking around.

He's the best TTer of the GC contenders

Hope he can still be a threat and get back in touch for a podium spot

His best opportunity is to deliver a superb 60 km time trial

Moinard is the best placed rider in the break 4:45 down. No way the GC contenders are going to allow him to get away. Gap currently 4:18 as the leaders start the climb proper.

Just watched the highlights... Huge respect for Sagan after that ride last night.

There is time bonuses on the final line tonight so Etixx ride as normal so cavendish can take them away from Sagan and possibly even get cavs lead out men to try hold on in front of Sagan as well
