That was the answer I was looking for, thanks. On a downhill I always feel someting up my ass, so I was wondering about getting one.

 

Don't know if a dropper is going to help with that!

When you reach the point that some of the downhills have drop offs and sections where you have to get your weight right back,( most likey your seatpost will be to high ,and in the way) so you are more comfortable with stopping and dropping your seatpost first.

Most likey this is trail bike / enduro riders situations.

XC riding does not really need a dropper, though that does not stop you.

Depends on the trail.

I have the LEV and the reverb. The LEV was fantastic until used in cold weather (5 degrees or less), at which point it turned into a pogo stick. Reverb has been fault free since purchase. I've had the LEV fixed now so let's see how long it lasts...
