I admire Froomie (Even if only because his an African and the Brits won't make him a Sir too) and I'm ecstatic with his performance thus far. I noticed the elbows yesterday and jumped with joy, stopped my PVR and backed it up to check it out again, and again. Heheheee. Awesome performance. And ... when I saw Clenbutador going backward, I ... had a wry smile. Beautifullll.

(I have not read the whole thread. Sorry if this is already answered.)

I have a DSTV Walka with me at work. Will Le Tour be broadcasted on the Walka, or only the Drifta?

What do you guys think of RODRIGUEZ's comments yesterday that these Classic routes should not be included in the TdF? Must admit I licked my chops when I saw the itinerary early on, but now see the logic in his thinking. With the Classics, you have much less team work and no GC type guys just hoping not to lose time, and thus less guys trying to take up non existent space on these narrow roads.

Yesterdays crash just made the viewing value less attractive and really sad to see Simon G and specially Spartacus out. Not mentioning Impy. Sad

If I was a betting man, I'd be putting money on Martin taking the yellow jersey off Froome today...

It depends on what the rivals are up to..if they can gain time on quintanna today they will as will the other Gc teams.

won't be surprised to see astana driving hard today, out of the ao called big 5.. nibbles is very good on the cobbles.

I say big 5 because Teejay is looking good and he has a super strong team. Also reminded that BMC are TTT world champs so they are going to be very strong today again..

It's going to be one hell of a ride..

PS would like nothing more than for Tony to wear the yellow jersey

I don't really mind who wins today.

I just want one thing: that all the contenders make it to week 3 in one piece and ready for a proper contest.

For once, let's be able to watch a proper 'fight' in the mountains with everyone there. Please, please...

The thing is that the 1st week of the TDF always has casualties. It's part of the whole show, and almost unavoidable. People are still fresh, and very very nervous. Purito is an old campaigner and so I'm surprised he doesn't recognise after all these years that it's part of racing. Some win and some lose to bad luck.

Personally, I think the new format is great. Opens up the TDF to many more possible stage winners each day. The last thing I'd want to see is a return to the times when the first 10 - 12 stages were pancake flat and 1 or 2 big-name sprinters won them all. I used to only tune into the TDF in week 2 because of that. It was mindlessly boring. Even worse, during the Cippolini era he would win the first 10 stages and then climb off his bike at the sight of the first hill. It seriously detracted from the event.

What Purito is probably missing is that guys like him could chill for many days in the bunch, rolling through easy countryside and hitching a ride behind the big sprint teams while they controlled the breaks and then lined up for the end sprint. So for them, these early days were easy riding. Now they have to contest each day from the beginning - much harder, and makes you a lot more tired by the time you reach the mountains when it really starts to bite.

I get what you saying tombeej. Really share your views.

Narrower roads just make safety so much of an issue. I am looking forward to seeing the mountains and having at least FOUR guys competing and letting the best man come to the party.

Last year when Froomy and Contador bombed out, the race lost a lot of interest for me and Nibali kinda had it on a (broken) plate. Just lost its fizz.

Can we have clarification in why Froome got same time as Purito? I see a gap more than a bike length, so I am a bit confused.

Here we go, he got it my 0.07 seconds. Thanks instagram.

Said I would take a brake from the hub today, but this sort of relates to yesterday.
