there's been a lot of work getting this one sorted(understandably) and the location has been kept quiet for this reason. Not much marketing required, this one sells itself.

21-23 November 2014 – 100 – 150km
A landmark route just released. The first ever long distance Adventure Race on the Cape Peninsula. An opportunity that all adventure addicts have been waiting for.

This route is a traditional a step up from the traditional WCAD 80km format events. Open to teams of two or four people. Official category is mixed fours. Registration, briefing and packing takes place on Friday evening at a venue to be announced. Race starts Saturday 7am. There are course cut-off options to try get everyone to the finish line by final cut-off.
 
Some insane prizes for best navigational move on the race – First Technology have sponsored 4 touch screen tablets to the best navigational whiz team. And obviously some other great prizes on the day.
More info on the venue to be released as soon as we have clearance from the venue owner. But you will not be disappointed. The venue is in Cape Town.

Now this looks cool!!!

 

Do you perhaps know approximate distances that would be required to run? I would love to do something like this but have dodgy knee that wont let me run massive miles..

each race course is different, I don't know the exact splits on the different activities, but a rough rule of thumb would be ~15km paddle/25km trek/60km mtb for the 100km.

 

Course is unmarked, you need to follow your own route using the maps to get to checkpoints.

it's more like hiking(trekking) than running for these distances. you move at about 5-7km/h, terrain and fitness dependant.

 

this was the 100km AR we put on last year at theewaters, it coincided with quite a biblical proportioned storm, which added an unplanned flavour to the race

Cape Peninsula Adventure Race - 22 Nov 2014

Adventure Racing time! - The Peninsula 100 Adventure Race, takes place on Sat 22nd Nov.

 

Paddling in the sea, navigating trails on your mountain bike, trail running through forests and abseiling off Table Mountain-100km of serious adventure fun.

 

Teams of 2 or 4, prize money favours mixed teams, 4s to have at least one lady athlete.

 

Entry Fee is R500 a head, ie R1000 for Pairs, R2000 for 4s.

 

Prizes include Cash, Tablets, Capestorm backpacks, Extreme lights, Event entries.

 

This will be a seconded race, so you WILL need a buddy / second to be your equipment driver. He/she drives ahead to the transition, and prepares

for the next leg.

The maps for each leg are handed over only at the start of that leg. You will be busy most of the day from 6am.

 

Boats! You need a seakayak, or surfski, or sit-on-top kayak. Distance to paddle - approx 15km, involves easy navigation.

No boat? We have some for rent at R400. Mail us here, once you have entered.   

 

Distances - mtb  55km; trail run /trek 30km; paddling 15km; abseil 110m. Starts Simonstown, Ends Cape Town - if you make it!

ok, so entries closed on monday, think we have about 30 teams, some 4s but mostly pairs.

 

Weather is shaping up quite nicely, should be a cracker!

 

I'll be the kind chap manning Transition 2, feel free to ask for advice/motivation if you're in dire need of either.
