They should move this event to summer man. Training for such distance in winter ( hier in die Vrystaat) is very difficult.

That's part of the adventure, and just think how strong you'll be going into summer.

How bad can it be in the Free State?

This is what I'm riding in today and tomorrow (Going KOM hunting!)

Wikus says: "If you haven't got to a 10-15hrs training week yet, Baviaans is not going to be easy.".......................

Ag nee man Mads... Hoe dan so?

New job different town .  Not enough saddle time in the week.  One long ride a week is not going to cut it. But moving closer to my job this weekend . So from next week I have some serious catching up to do.  But too late for this year.

Eish, sorry to hear that. You can always suck our wheels. We have 3 teams this year and half of us are first timers on the Baviaans. :whistling:  The DAISIES will be there in force. :clap:  :w00t:

Two more quick questions from me;

1. What sort of stuff does the water tables have? Will we be able to get some proper food at one of the checkpoints? Would help if we can get something like a boerie or a burger somewhere.

2. What is the function of your support vehicle? Is it mandatory? If the trucks take our boxes to checkpoints 2, 3 and 4 what would your support vehicle need to deliver to you later in the race?

First waterpoint is just goooey energy stuff - can safely ride past it.

Second waterpoint has snacks, and your boxes. And Coke.

Third waterpoint has sosaties and potatoes, and your boxes. And Coke.

Fourth waterpoint has life saving soup and bread. And your boxes. And Coke.

Fifth waterpoint has your support vehicle, possibly snacks. And Coke.

Sixth waterpoint has jaffles. Super tasty jaffles. Hot Chocolate, tea, coffee, burgers. And your support vehicle. And Coke.

Finish line has a Spur burger and chips. Your support vehicle. And Beer.

Your support vehicle is there to provide a shoulder to cry on, a brain to get things done, and the temptation to take a quite nap to ease the pain and suffering. Your support vehicle is also there to stroke your ego, offer replacement legs, buy super tasty jaffles, or in extreme circumstances, tell you to HTFU and stop being a pansy, and pedal your bike!
