I get that, I was hoping for some information with respect to the roadworks and the amount of delay to expect.

I use Waze so I could rely on the prediction as I start driving but a little bit of hub input would be reassuring I guess.

Don't know from Jhb to Witbank, but from Witbank to Dullstroom easy plainsailing, except some roadworks in Belfast in town itself.

Took us 2.5  hours and there were no roadworks.

Checked into Dunkeld Estate, not very upmarket for the price tag in our unit. Going to cycle down to the start now and check it out.  We did late entries for Sunday's race at registration too.

Stopped at 17km mark to help a guy that had dislocated his knee on that black water pipe...as we were trying to SOS another guy came over and popped his out even worse! One guy was a brit, I think. He managed to ride on but Im pretty sure the other guy needed to be picked up. Then I had chain suck from about 18km despite stopping to wash my bike off in a dam. So stayed in 2nd chain ring the whole way - walked up that 1km KOM. Dunce of the Mountain, anyone? Loved the 30-49km bit and the cement road was awesome hehe.

I started with Ladies A batch and ok Im not the fastest but the last water point was already almost out of food when I came through - just apples left. Never ever experienced that in an Advendurance race, the woman said that was all they were supplied with? Not sure who checks on it. Max Knox is a demon I cant believe he knocked out a 4.36 in the ultra - my boyf did it in 7 hours.

But overall i really had a fun race!  Except the bit at the end when I asked Erik Kleinhans when his lovely wife is coming back to SA, and he replied: that's a bit of a tough one because she's not my lovely wife anymore.   so sad to hear that

Also: Wessel, fess up..these medals were not made for this race! I think they were for a run and bought on the cheap. (Also happy bday for yesterday)

Man that was fun, I really enjoyed this one. Much more of a challenge than Hazeldean.

What did frustrate the hell out of me were my bottle cages, five bottle drops over the distance. Any suggestions for replacements?

I payed a sh$%t load of money for the specialized one, and in 10 marathons, including monster, Van Gaalen and Hakahana havent lost a bottle one.

I have lost numerous cadence sensor magnets, and my Bryton on Saturday. Maybe next time Ill fit it in the bottle cage

Same here, those Spez bottle cages work like magic. Been 2 years now without losing a bottle.

Sorry about the Bryton though...
