Lefty spindle chipped

So I noticed a light rubbing sound coming from my front hub. I removed the front wheel and the only thing that looks to be wrong is some slight chips out of the spindle next to the race where the smaller bearings would run along (ie the start of the centre of the spindle where there is no contact between hub and spindle). Unfortunately I don't have any pics right now but does anyone in the know, know if this is a problem and is it something that can be fixed?

Probably the bearings that need to be replaced.

I don't think its the bearings, they aren't really in contact with this point and the bike is only a month old

Is it definitely the hub? Could possibly be the disk rubbing on either the brake pad or even the brake caliper housing itself. As its a new bike the brake caliper might not be adjusted properly. Just a thought, hope you come right.

Thanks, ya I removed the brake completely and there was still rubbing so definitely from the hub

Take the wheel off and feel if the bearings turn smoothly.

Yes as smooth as butter, really is a feint grinding but I'd rather fix it now if it is something

It might be some residual cast material, interfering with the bearing or just a bad bearing.

My money is on a bad bearing.

The lefty ends are machined post casting.

Check the little plastic seal over the big bearing....?

take it of ...clean under it...then ad some grease...

and put back on... securing it neatly in place... (flush with the hub)

place some grease on all bearing axle interfaces as well..

sometimes that seal makes a slight noise...not to bad... but irritating, if it has some dirt in it? if its clean and greased it should be quiet..

try this .... if it doesn't work...

use your grinder and take that noisy axle off...
