Hello guys, it's been a while :-)

I got myself a secondhand Orbea Natural series frame without the fork. It has some descent goodies on it, which includes a Sram x7 rear derailer, Sram Xgen front derailer and a nice big soft seat for my pundu. Got the whole shebang for R800. Just wanted to know what you guys think of the Orbea bikes in general.

I must say, that frame is very light, compared to the Mongoose Tyax a had a while back. Much thicker too. Anybody got a shock they wanna part with? No disc brakes as of yet, so will be using the  brake system on it.

Cheers

It's a Orbea "Series Natural" frame, it came with the Sram x7 rear derailer. Should it not have that as standard?

I tried setting it last night, Googled and Youtube'd till it came out da ears, but cannot set it to go through all the gears. It always only does 6 of the seven gears. I tried all the adjusting screws, the cable tension etc. Nothing works! I have noticed that the trigger (albeit difficult to use without the handle bar) does seem to not move in stages, you have to click twice to move the rear derailer.

Ek weet nie meer nie jong!

I have'nt had much exposure to high quality built bikes, but this is one solid and very light frame. When you tap it, it actually sounds like a carbon fibre frame, but it's aluminium. I stripped a Mongoose Rockadile Pro that I got from another guy, in a really bad shape cosmetic wise, transferred the rear wheel, cables etc over to this frame. Frame deserves better but it's all I got at the moment. Still need to get a fork and handle bar.

I'm gonna be using the original V brakes for now until funds allow me to get disc brakes.

Flowta has offered me a fork but will only be able to get it 10th Jan next year.

Please guys, have a look at my amp I'm selling in the Classifieds, I wanna get this bike going. Here is a link if anybodies interested:

I am very impressed with the Orbea OCCAM 100mm travel 29er. With the Fox CTD shockit clims very well in all modes and is superb on the descents in T and D modes. In fact ust leave it in T mode and it'll do everything very well.

They're also well priced from FluidLines. I can't choose between the OCCAM and the Rocky Mountain Element

If you have tried all the adjustment screws etc on your derailleur and that didn't help, You might need a new cable and housing? Ask the bike shop, they sell it by the metre from the workshop, a lot cheaper then then buying a whole cable kit. Maybe a bit of lube in the shifter and on the derailleur pivots. Q20 is normally quite good at freeing things up.
