Yes, I know shimano is better, but is it worth forking out R3k? Or should I ride the Formula's till they brake(pun intended)?

Well, I reckon give it a chance (that is if you are able to brake on those gnarly downhills and survive to tell the story) until it needs pads, then at least you save R400.

Then get the XT's. Best component on my bike.

fwiw..... i ride shimano xt on my pyga trail beast complete with 140mm pike upfront and dropper post..... 180mm icetec up front....160mm icetec on back..... it stops on a dime.... with one finger.... and i weigh 105kg

on my lynskey xco bike (sub 10kg build) i ride formula r1 racing...... I FKN HATE THEM

the xt brakes make them look utterly stupid..... so much so that as soon as budhget allows i will be selling the formulas to replace with the 2015 xtr trail brakes.....

The current XT brakes are significantly better than the previous version...which are still good. If budget is a concern then apparently the current Deore and SLX are just as good.

I weigh about 88kg and have icetech 203mm rotors on front and 180 rear on my 29er trail bike. It is almost too much brakes and I have to be careful with them. If you weigh less and will use them with 26 or 27,5 wheels then 180 F and 160 R should be fine.

XT Brakes with 180mm Ice Tech F&R , best money ever spent ! Been on 3 of my bikes, best upgrade ever. The pads also last forever.

Thanx all. Will buy them right now! Now to figure out which size rotors to use? Weigh 74kg and 29er. Should i go with 180 front and back?

Thanx. I am going to buy right now. Do I need to get adapters, or will they just fit?
