Guys I need some advice even though I know the answer. I am currently riding a felt ar4 which is basically an aero road bike and I have tri bars on it. Now I am looking at buying a trip bike. Is it too late to ride a different bike for Ironman?

I would say yes it is too late ...it takes al ong time to gel with a bike and takes mileage....

BTW, I am doing IM on my road bike, no tri bars ....I made this decision back in DEcember as I felt time was too short to adapt to a new set up. but then I learn slowly.

Stick to what you know is my advice at this stage...

Hmmm.. probably not a great idea to change bikes so close to race day. But then again who am I to talk, seeing that I basically just brush off my old Giant TCR a week before IM to check whether the wheels still turn and the brakes still work! Do all my training on the mtb. The other thing is that the new bike route is not as flat as the old course, so a full on tri bike will now probably be less effective.

Silly question but thinking of doing Ironman next year. Are there any qualifying events or requirements?  Cant seem to see any on their webpage.

nope.  only requirement these days would be to register early, tends to fill up quite early the last year or so

unless your average speed is going to be in the upper half of the 30's, there is virtually no advantage in riding a tri-bike over a normal road bike with tri-bars given that it is properly setup.

The rollercoaster continues.

After getting up to the planned distances without major problems, I took a rest week at 50% of the normal load. Started again with normal load this week, but feel completely numb/unfit!

What the hell??? I thought I'd feel great after an easier week...
