nigelhicks Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 NoFear - KZNMTB will be putting out a circular soon on the event and whats happening - I just need to finalise some stuff with Karkloof Club and then I can send out a memo (which i will post on here) ... Waiting for SuperMil to finalise the arrangements for the Club ... hahaha There will be no organised shuttles on Saturday. But as SuperMil says - if you are caught shuttling on SAPPI roads you will be in deep sh.t ... We have specific rules that we need to abide by for this event and its serious stuff. The memo will show shuttle routes etc and which sections need to be ridden rather than shuttled - there is an 5 minute (2km) contour path that you need to ride from the main Demagtenberg road to get to the DH start - we are not allowed to have vehicles on this road as Sappi regulations are very stringent about this - vehicles are only allowed on the Demagtenberg Road But Super and I will put something together and get it out ASAP - I have a meeting with our sponsors on Thursday so will only have the memo after that ....

nigelhicks Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 No idea dude - thats run by ROAG - and i dont even know if entries are open yet. hahaha Its still early days ... hahaha cant believe how keen okes are ... hahaha We as KZNMTB havent even finalised some of the stuff for the season yet as everyone has been on leave, but riders are already phoning with queries etc. hahahaha Not saying its not awesome that okes are so enthusiastic, but its just classic that okes are this keen.NoFear has already asked me for ALL the routes for the whole year ... hahahahahaNow thats KEEN ... I havent even thought about them yet, hahahaha

Their rules state that no person can be on the back of an open backed vehicle, but must be inside a closed vehicle with a seatbelt on (so normal shuttling is out of the question). Then there are speed limits of 20 or 30km/h on all roads. And they need to have given permission prior so that they know where you are in case they are felling, or there is a fire etc. Big stories. I practically climbed Mt Everest in paperwork to get the event approved. hahaha

DH will have UNOFFICIAL practice on the Saturday - So the track will be marked, but you need to sort yourself out for shuttles up the Demagtenberg Road - and there will not be any marshals or medics. Sunday morning is official practice where you will need to have done 2 runs during official practice to be able to race. Racing will be from about 12 i think. For official practice on Sunday we have official shuttle vehicles running Is the Enduro gonna be run blind? I am not sure how Dave wants to do it ... But i suspect it will be ... but if you have done the Karkloof Classic 60km or their Enduro Event you will have ridden the trails. They pretty straight forward. Only 4 A/B line options that I can recall
