Shortened travel capacity on new Reba, solutions?

Has anybody got any ideas about how I can fix the shortened travel capacity on my new Reba?

I have done a maximum of 200k's on the fork and although the sag is set correctly (7mm) the fork does not recover its full 100mm travel after a hit. After a ride I try to physically extend the fork back to 100mm and it only goes to about 75mm and sits at rest at between 70mm and 75mm from the top of the stanchion. Because of this the fork is frequently coming close to bottoming out when I'm riding.

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

I had exactly the same issue on a new Reba, had it serviced and it turned out that there was no air in the negative chamber.Your best is to have it opened up.

Has the single-air reba got a negative air chamber?

I've pumped it up to its maximum 200psi and the travel increases to maximum and then as I bring the pressure back down to 110psi I watch the shock deflate. Surely it should stay at 100mm regardless of the pressure in the chamber?

That would point to the negative chamber being over pressured in relation to the positive.

Hi,

had the same issue with my New Reba after 6 or 7 weeks. According to my local bike shop it is a common problem something to do with the inner seals and air escaping to the bottom chamber of the fork which then interns sucks the fork down and that's why the fork will not return to the 100mm travel. My LBS replaced the inner seals but no joy. So under a warranty claim it went back to Cape Cycle Systems in Cape Town for a full strip down and they replaced all the inners & seals. No issues since.

Thanks for this. I'll get in touch with the LBS and then the supplier.

There's a valve under the bolt at the bottom on the spring side - undo bolt, depress valve, replace bolt, torque to 5.5 Nm. Job done.

If it happens again, service time.

If it's new (as in original owner, less than a year old), it's a warranty service.

I sent my Reba Duel Air in for service and new stanchions at a cost of

R3800.00 ( quoted and accepted)When the fork came back it was converted to solo air. On enquiry I was told that the spares for Duel air are no longer available. Can anyone confirm this. Also I would have thought that the Sram service department should have told me this at the quoting stage.
