wazi Posted January 19, 2015 Share I searched and couldn't find a thread for this. I thinking of stripping my bike down to the metal and just polishing it. Thoughts? Pics of your Alu-Bike? Something like this:

Grebel Posted January 19, 2015 Share Stripped a Silverback Sierra frame a while ago for my son. A lot of elbow grease and a little bit of creative sanding.... Did my DH bike as well.

CdT85 Posted January 19, 2015 Share I have recently started a "raw" project...How do I keep my frame "shiny"? without spending hours of polishing it every now and again?Any way of sealing the aluminum? will clear coat do?
wazi Posted January 19, 2015 Share Hmmm wondering about sealing it too. I had an issue with some steel wheels a few years back where they need a 300grit sanded surface for the paint to stick. Obviously 300 is no where near polished. Maybe a clear powder coat?

The acid used in the anodizing process will destroy them

CogitoErgoSum Posted November 12, 2016 Share I have contemplated stripping my 2012 Silverback Mercury dual - she has so many chips and chaves anyway. Is it possible to strip her down to raw alu? What are the issues in doing so? Costs? Where to have it done if not possible to do myself? Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk
