Im always someone that would like to take cyclists side when its the battle between cars and bicycles... but i must say if i was a car and i see an oke reckless like that i will also dislike cyclists.

The video is very cool indeed and i like the display info at the bottom but this wont help our cause on the road! My hands were sweating watching this and that guy cuts inbetween the traffic especially past a taxi is suicide im my opinion... please be safe and lets not throw away our "little respect" we have on the road.

So why is it okay to lane split on a motor bike but not on a bicycle?

First speed restriction is 60kph so yes, what he is doing is illegal. He's piloting a vehicle, and needs to conform to the speed restrictions just like any other vehicle.

2nd one I couldn't see a speed limit sign, but if it was like the first, then yes, illegal and prosecutable.

to summarise - idiot.

Tell me why is it ok to speed in a car or on a motor bike but not on a bicycle? Please don't tell me you have never broken the speed limit.

The point is that the majority of you hubbers commenting on this are self-righteous hypocrites. I specifically posted a video of me exceeding the speed limit on a bicycle to generate controversy, because every one of you immediately says it is illegal, but I am certain that every one of you will get into your car today, tomorrow or whenever and commit the exact same offence.

So will the hubber that does not habitually exceeded the speed limit in a 60 zone in their motor vehicle please stand up and make yourself known.

Will the hubber that does not habitually use a cell phone while driving please stand up and make yourself known.

If it is not acceptable to you that others disregard the laws of the road then what makes it acceptable for you to do it? Let me remind you that it is also illegal for YOU to commit these offenses, but is it because everyone does it on a daily basis that it becomes normal behaviour and you are just a sheep follow the other the sheep?

Even on the bike, every one of you, I am certain, habitually breaks the law by riding two abreast on a single carriage way! Of course, you want to chat to your mate. This is a very dangerous activity as that 1.5 meter gap gets narrowed down considerably, possibly forcing cars to go around into the oncoming lane or passing within inches of your handle bars. Contemplate that a bit when you out riding and tell me you are not taking a risk yourself.

So, before passing judgement on me, please look into the mirror and say to yourself “I am an ass hole for speeding, I am an asshole for using my phone while driving”

Now here is a suggestion, when you wake up in the morning and look at yourself in the mirror why don’t you say to yourself “I will make the effort not to speed to day. I will not drive while using my phone today, as I know that both of these activities are illegal and put other people’s lives at risk”

When you have become a model citizen you will have earned the right and the respect to pass comment on all the other assholes breaking the law, myself included.

How sad are you....are you specifically trying to ruin any chance of mutual respect between motorists and cyclists too!!

That's a very noble "high horse" post from someone who admittedly himself breaks the law.

But let me be the first to say:

I don't talk or text on my phone while driving ever.

I don't speed. (ya, I know I'm probably the only one)

I make every effort to stick to the rules. I'm also not perfect, and sometimes slip up.

On my bike I follow the same principles.

At the end of the day, I don't even judge you. I don't care that you ride like that. I just think its stupid. I've been off the bike for three months now following an accident where a dog ran out of a house and in front of me. I didn't have time to do anything despite following the rules. I am longing for when I can get back on the bike. But I also realise that I am very lucky there were no cars coming towards me when it happened.

So my question: even though you are well aware that the cars around you are texting, calling on their phones and speeding, you still think you are in control of your situation??

Interesting.

Do you REALLY not get the point? Seriously? Is this obtuseness intentional?  Your fixation on the one-dimensional point of "if they do it, so can we" is beyond understanding.  NOBODY CARES what other road users do or don't do, and sure as hell do not use it as an excuse to ride bicycles like kamikaze pilots high on meth.  The point is, and has always been on the effect of your riding on the cycling community at large.  Do you get this, or do you just choose to ignore it because it makes you feel uncomfortable?  You are either helping or harming cyclists at large through your behaviour, and it is pretty common cause that the riding of you and your mates is harming the wider cycling community.  Maybe you should care, or at least a bit, and stop being so selfish.

You are SO missing the point here....anyway, nothing I can do about your adolescent logic!

Yawn !!... he did, they did, they shouldn't... has nothing to do with who what why where and how.... bring another argument tomorrow and see if you can justify all that you see is rosey!!

Unfortunately the rose tinted glasses need cleaning so that you can see the bigger picture....

Feel free to do all the retarded sh!t you like on your bicycle, but rather than post it all here in the hopes that more people will think you're Vanilla Ice cool, just keep it to yourself and your like, fully sick, totally radical mates.

Me - I live my life to the fullest I can without negatively impacting others. You should too.

Your "I'm definitely breaking laws because I assume all others do too" is just silly.

There are plenty of places you can smash the speed limit and have fun without affecting others - I suggest you go there.

So you went out and did something dangerous and illegal (with a hint of stupidity) to "generate controversy" and to give you a vantage point for your argument that other people also do it and that it's dangerous and illegal?
