Modder Price Increase - @CentralParkMTB

Ride a bit at Modder and heard this week that they are going up to R50 a ride from 1 Feb 2015 - 25% increase!

Even if you buy their card - it still works out expensive, especially when you compare it to the likes of Northern Farms.

If you taking a family in for a ride, you in for R200 before you have even wiped the k@k from your eyes?

Any opinions?

I'm conflicted.  On the one hand its a Nature reserve and part of the money goes to the conservation of Flora and Fauna.

On da ander hand Darren.  That's quite a big jump.

Hopefully they are going to be doing some major techinical upgrades to the trails with that.  If so I don't mind.

They increasing the price but the entry road has potholes worse than those in the Transkei (no jokes) and speed stoppers instead of proper speed bumps.

They regularly have over 1000 park runners there - (thats every Saturday) they don't pay a cent at all, now we know where the Pot Holes are coming from? Why dont they charge them R10 a car for entry into the reserve?

That's hectic. If you pay it, you have to use the opportunity well and do long rides.

But I agree about the state of the road - the road surface looks like a teenager's face and you have to come to a complete halt for a lot of those "speed bumps".

Agree fully with all said.

The roads going in are in a serious need of work. The speed bumps are terrible.

In my opinion, a lot of cash has been spent over the past year or two on the conference centre and restaurant area - which is great. I do believe there should be more work done on the tracks in terms of creating new routes etc. I would love a 70km option, although this may be difficult to achieve...

Back to the original question - In my mind even R40 was steep, but it is convenient, close to home and has great facilities for the family after the ride, so I was ok with it. Going to R50 is a significant jump, but I am still grateful for the facilities being close by!

i agree let the joggers spread the love a little, hell even R5 WILL HELP, why must only the cyclists pay if the argument is "its a nature reserve"

if you walk around the zoo you pay???
