skipperw Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 Howsit guys So after two weeks of having intermittent fluid loss out of both ends, I finally ended up on a drip in hospital today.I pointed out that I had just completed 70.3 and my immune system may be a little run down. The doctor pointed out that two other contestants had been in with similar symptoms and she suspects it could be a water issue in Slummies. Anyone else experience some hectic gastro? Fanie - any comment on the state of the water there?
Starvin' Marvin Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 The East bank water works(Bats Cave) is about 1.5 to 2km from the swim leg of the 70.3. It is entirely possible that raw sewage was present in the water along with increased "bug levels".

Rocket-Boy Posted February 11, 2015 Posted February 11, 2015 I did the sunshine coast on Sunday, swim conditions were the worst I have ever had with howling east, big swell and nothing but choppy sea. Long story short I swallowed *lots* of water and have not had any hassles.But has been pointed out before the bats cave area is close by and has a sewerage works, the main issue is that it used to be prevented from being load shed as it would dump raw sewerage into the sea when the power was out. These days it gets load shed like everything else.Im guessing its possible there was load shedding around the time of the 70.3
