I just purchased this light and I am very disappointed. Make no mistake when running at HIGH (2000lm) it is very bright. However I run it moistly on MED. The battery lasts around 2 hours. That is terrible and is completely different than what the spec states (around 10 hours).

I wish I'd read this before buying this light.

Fully charged to power out = 7hrs on the lowest setting (they claim up to 12hrs)

Straight back to where it came from.

I need a light that can do 12 hrs at about 400 lumen, I'm riding a bike, not landing a plane.

Any advice?

I agree that Extreme Lights make incredible lights. It is pricey (very pricey) but then you get what you pay for. Charge in January and it lasts the whole year  :whistling:

Give the Ryder Centauri (www.buycycle.co.za) a bash. I own one. Much cheaper than Extreme Lights and you will get the hours you want! The battery is very high quality!

I'm using nightlightning iBlaast IX, iBlaast 4 and iBlaast. The oldest of which is 9years old. Never needed the warranty......of wait, I was the warranty.

Just replace the battery every 5 years or so and good to go.

Then again my Lupine Edison10 has given me 12years great service till the battery died of old age.

I've added a USE Exposure Maxx-D mk7 for my road bike. So far its brilliant and everything packaged in one compact case.

Won't be touching cheap troublesome crap. You get what you pay for.

ever had your light fail while out on the trail? I've heped several people off the mountain when their cheapies failed...

just saying

The way I see it, I want a light that will give me the comfort that it will last at least 7-10 hours on at least a med setting! Anything less than that is bad quality! I have done a few Transbaviaans on my Ryder Centauri and the battery easily made it all the way!

Actually they are cheap, very cheap. You won't find cheaper lights anywhere with quality like theirs

VS Extreme Lights R650.... Waar kry jy jou feite???

Currently waiting for the Surge people to call me.

I am reliably informed that a 6000mAh battery should give way more than 7 hours on low.

The Surge Batwing retails for R900 with a battery that claims to do max 12hrs on low.

Dus R1125 beter in my opinie.

Moenie my verkeerd verstaan nie, Extreme Lights maak vrek goeie ligte.

I have tried to get hold of the official suppliers of surge in south africa. Could not find anyone as I would like them to comment on what they claim and what actually happens are very very different.

Would the batteries for extreme lights not work for surge as I think they may be the same voltage? Don't quote me though, I need to verify this.

I had a call from the LBS where I bought the light.

Surge apparently says 'you'll never get 12 hrs on low"...well then why the hell is it printed on the box!!!!???

They did however offer to exchange the battery for me.

And yes, apparently the Extreme lights 6600mAh battery (R845) will work as it has the same 5.5mm fitting.
