Hallo

Me and my wife want to make a nice getaway weekend to knysna and then ride the mtb race on the Saturday. I want to do the 80, but thought she could do the 50km. My question is: Is the 50km a very challenging route? It is only 700m climb, so can't think that it is to hard of a race or is there very technical parts?

Thanks for the replies in advance

Kind regards

It is actually a very easy ride, very little single track, and it is lovely riding through the forest. Just a climb up Simon at the beginning.

I doing this as well, I know the 50/80km MTB races are seeding races. Does anyone know if the 109km road race on the following day is also a seeded event?

Very nice ride the 50km route. The biggest climb is up towards the forest and it is tare all the way to the top. To put in perspective I did a 3:05 after suffering a puncture etc. Let me tell you I am not a pro or even remotely fast - just a weekend warrior. In comparison the 55km Argus MTB took me 4:30 minutes.  Will also be doing it with the wife this year again.

I've done the 50km a few times. It really is not technically challenging at all. It's a nice route for anyone looking to clock up a PB or for someone who just wants a chilled day in the saddle.
