Shadow plus clutch on or off

It must be ON if you ride. It keeps the chain really tight to avoid chain slap, dropping your chain and chain suck.

Because the chain is so tight when its on, you turn the switch to off to remove the wheel if you need.

It does not tighten the tension on your chain. It increases the resistance on the pivot of the cage that holds the sprockets preventing chain slap. You want it ON on rough roads.

Just a question.... Why did you buy a shadow plus if you don't know what it does? It tightens the tension of your chain while not under pressure. It reduces the chances of a "chain drop".

Mainly used in single front chain ring setup but will apply for all riding.

Came with the bikes.

Sounds if you did not cycle MTB  in the time before this feature became available.

Do a rocky downhill with it of and then on. You'll  hear (possible experience if the chain come off) the difference.

I love the effect of this clutch, but find it makes gear changes quite a bit more sticky and clumsy - any way to improve it?

You can adjust the tension of the clutch.

You think if I loosen it a bit it may help?

Will definitely help. Just take a little tension off at a time and check the shifting in between adjustments.

I found that with a clutch on the gear change is not nearly as smooth (its actually pretty **** and loud) and with it off the chain slap isn't to bad I do have a guard on the frame so it doesn't really bother me. And my detailer is new so the tension is good.

With a clutch on does everything not ware faster?
