nonky Posted March 20, 2015 Posted March 20, 2015 You spent all the money on this Garmin. Now pay a little extra and get a proper assessment done to determine your training zones. Don't waste your time with silly formulas that are more often wrong than right and are not helpful even when they are right. You need to determine your lactate threshold. AKA PAIN THRESHHOLD...
ScottCM Posted May 5, 2015 Posted May 5, 2015 Quote taken from Sports Doctor website : Your true MHR is the highest pulse rate you can attain during all-out effort, so by definition, it is impossible to exceed this limit. Your MHR is most accurately determined during an exercise stress test, when you run on a treadmill and are connected to an electrocardiogram that measures your pulse during maximal exertion, The easy way to estimate your MHR is to subtract your age from 220. But this is only an estimate. Because we are all unique human beings of different ages and levels of fitness, our maximum heart rates can vary considerably. As we get older, our maximum heart rate slows down. Also, regular training has the effect of lowering your maximum heart rate, as well as your resting heart rate. This is because your heart, like other muscles you exercise, becomes stronger and more efficient, pumping a greater volume of blood with each beat.
