Free hub compatability - Shimano and Campy

So, I ride a Bianchi with Campy 10 speed Record and Campagnolo Zendo wheels.

I'm probably going to buy a second hand Bianchi that has Shimano Ultegra Electronic components and Shimano wheels.

I understand, that if they're both 10 speed, I can just switch the wheels over and have the pleasure of my Zondas, but a bastardized group-set - not so cool.

But, as I understand, I can't just change the cassette from the Shimanos to the Zondas as the free hub is different. Is my understanding correct? Can one just get the free hub changed, or is it a completely different wheel construction.

It is considered sacreligious to run Campy wheels with Shimano components. Nonetheless there are Shimano freehubs for the Campagnola wheels. You could 'possibly' get away with running a Campy 10spd cassette with the Shimano setup but it may not run perfectly.

Your Campag 10 spd wheel will work perfectly with the 10spd Shimano. In most cases you can change the Freehub from Shimano to Campag or Campag to Shimano. You cannot just change the cassette.

Good luck with the Ultegra DI2 if you're half as happy as I am with it you will enjoy, its a fantastic groupset and I will never change. Maybe upgrade
