Stricker Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Hi Gents, I am stuck between these two and would like to find out how the hubsters feel about these two. THX
Zatek Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 If you only have those 2 I would go Propel but have you considered Spez Venge or Silverback Scalera? I have a Venge and I can not fault the bike.
AdrianDJ Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Do you consider yourself a "climber", a "sprinter" or a "puncheur". All depends... The TCR will be lighter, the Propel will be stiffer, heavier and more aero. Simply saying "go for the Propel" is a personal opinion. Take both for a spin, you will probably find the TCR might be more comfortable.
Cat2forLife Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Actually the TCR is the stiffer of the two.. But no average Joe will be able to tell the difference in the stiffness between the Propel and TCR.

And too me felt MUCH stiffer
Zatek Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Just put a 25mm tire at the back if the ride is to harsh. Pick the one you like the most.
'Dale Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 Aero vs climber, roughly speaking What terrain will you roll? Flat, rollers, odd climbs > PropelClimbs, rollers, hills > TCR
Long Wheel Base Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 I have the new TCR and love it. I haven't ridden the propel but I believe its awesome. I think its personal preference on looks and feel because tbh I don't think us average riders can or will actually feel the difference in race times. I personally love the aero look of the propel but I don't like the mess of cables coming from the handle bars and into the frame, I feel they could have made another plan there, but that is just my opinion. I'm sure the geometry is also different. Iv also heard rumours that the aero brakes on the propel aren't as sharp as conventional brakes.
Cat2forLife Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 I have the TCR advanced sl and have ridden the Propel, i found the Propel harsher... And too me felt MUCH stiffer Yeah the Propel will be much harsher. Because the TCR uses thinner tubes etc. Maybe the Propel felt stiffer to you, but Giant claim the TCR is stiffer. Anyway, I guess it's up to the rider anyway.

They're not crap, but they could be better.
Underachiever Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 I have a 2012 TCR Adv SL ISP and what a bike!! Since I'm fat and unfit, I will go for low weight vs Aero and heavy any time of day. BUT Propel is an awesum looking machine
GoLefty!! Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 there very little weight difference between propel and TCR
Brickleberry Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 As far as I know the difference in weight between similar speced models is less than 1kg, so unless you are a 70kg mountain goat you won't feel a difference there I don't think. Propel is amazing and comfortable for an aero bike. And looks the business. TCR is great too, maybe chat to the lads at cycle fit and see what geometry will suit you better.
GoLefty!! Posted March 27, 2015 Posted March 27, 2015 I think the difference is around 150 gr between similary specced Propel and TCR to the TCR's favour.Very little in the real world
